Identity and history

The Cimolai family represents a story of vision, passion and deep connection to the land. Armando Cimolai, a pioneer in metal construction, turned his vision into a global empire, bringing innovation and prestige to Friuli, the land he loved so much. In 1993, his daughter Ivana expanded the family's entrepreneurial spirit into agriculture, founding Borgo delle Rose, combining tradition and innovation.
After the passing of Armando in 2022 and his wife Albina in 2023, sons Luigi and Roberto, together with grandchildren, carry on this legacy, guided by values of quality and innovation, between industry and agriculture.
The estate
A Family History
1993
Ivana Cimolai, daughter of the founders of the Cimolai Group, established the Borgo delle Rose farm in 1993 to cultivate her passion for the land. Situated in the foothills of the Carnic Pre-Alps in Friuli Venezia Giulia, the estate spans 400 hectares, with 70 dedicated to viticulture, in an area with stony soils known as the "Magredi." Thanks to its unique soil composition and favorable climate, this region is ideal for producing high-quality wines. The combination of microclimate, sun exposure, and the expertise of its winemakers has made Borgo delle Rose renowned for its exceptional wines.

2020
REBRANDING
In 2020, after Ivana's untimely passing, grandfather Armando, along with grandchildren Lorenzo and Carla, decided to breathe new life into the estate. For years, the estate and its harvest had been reserved exclusively for family and a few lucky friends. Together, they rebranded the wine labels and logo and developed a new range of products to introduce to friends and the world.

Quality & Sustainability

We carefully observe each row, learning from nature and anticipating its needs. We use predictive models and resistant varieties to prevent problems, keeping the vineyard healthy and lush. Alongside nature, we rely on small allies: beneficial insects and microorganisms that help protect plants without forcing.
From 2021, certification SQNPI tells of our commitment to sustainable agriculture, but for us it is more than an acknowledgement: it is a promise of respect for our land and the wines that come from it.
