Historical background
A grape variety of ancient origin, its name recalls the village of Tramin, in Alto Adige, where it is thought to have originated. Known as early as the Middle Ages, aromatic Traminer traveled through the Alps, finding an ideal habitat in Friuli. Here it gives birth to a more subtle and territorial version, where aromaticity is balanced by freshness and finesse. Its presence in Friuli has been documented for centuries, but it was during the twentieth century that it found its own distinctive identity, far from exotic excesses and closer to the austere elegance of the territory.
